July 20th announcements

Some announcements and joys that were shared today:

  • We need folks to sign up to provide food for 20 teens for when they go to Kingdom Bound at Darien Lake (August 3-6). Please contact Kathryn or Pastor John if you can provide a meal. The teens also need a screen tent for their camping trip, 3 large coolers, and a 6-person tent. There is room for one more teen to join them.
  • Children’s Church includes grades Kindergarten through 4th, and meets during worship service. Thank you Kathryn, for your work with our youth!
  • Wesleyan Teen Camp – You can sponsor a teen to go to camp for $220 (grades 7 -12) and kids for $190 (grades 4-6). See the information on the table in the entryway, or ask Pastor John.
  • Art is in the hospital with respiratory problems and has stage 4 lung cancer. Please keep Art in your prayers.
  • “Mystery of the  Buttercups” — a historic play about a true event in Long Lake — will be performed at the Long Lake Town Hall on July 25th at 7:30 pm. If you have trouble hearing, there are seats reserved for you in the front row. Several of the actors are local folks that you’ll probably recognize!
  • Remember all prayer concerns that have been shared in church recently. Even if you don’t know the need, God does!
  • Join us every Sunday for “Sunday School” at 10:00 and Worship at 11:00. See other events below. You can always Contact us with questions.

And here’s just a bit of Pastor’s John’s lesson this morning, about humbling serving in the Body of Christ:

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully” (Romans 12:3-8 NIV).

Remember the power of prayer in the Prayer of Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9-10); Jabez just asked God to bless him and enlarge his territory. He left the details up to God — and God blessed him! Remember the story of George Mueller, who built orphanages with prayer and no money; he trusted God to provide and He did! What a great lesson in faith and the power of prayer!
