January 1 updates

Epiphany Sunday: Epiphany marks a visit to the baby Jesus by the Wise Men.  Epiphany is also a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God in his Son as human in Jesus Christ. Pastor John talked about Epiphany as changing knowledge of things — seeing things clearer than before. An Epiphany is also a life-saving or life-changing moment. He shared four scripture truths about the Son of God that can lead you to an epiphany.

  1. “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life” (1 John 5:12 NLT).
  2. Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also” (1 John 2:23 NLT).
  3. But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children“(Galatians 4:4-5).
  4. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 NLT).
