2016 October 8 – harvest and bagging for delivery

Back to Community Garden.

On October 8, 2016, many hands gathered to make light work of digging up potatoes, carrots, etc.

Here’s a rough breakdown of statistics from this year:

  • 3000# cabbage
  • 1800# carrots
  • 2500# potatoes, about half of expected owing to drought
  • 2000# winter squash
  • 400 head broccoli plus half that again in weight of side shoots
  • 1500 leeks
  • many bushels of field corn for corn meal
  • Considerable assorted vegetables and herbs.

On October 29th, we gathered to pack 90 paper sacks with potatoes, carrots, and winter squash to distribute to several communities.
