There’s a new video about Mme Soliette and “her” orphans in LaGonave, Haiti. This video tells how Mme Soliette started the orphanage, but it goes on to tell us about the hope and future for these children. (“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jer 29:11).
Bill Cody went to Haiti, met Mme Soliette, and God gave him a burden for giving these kids a new home. Bill is now the Chairman of a co-op called Okipe (Oh-kEE-pAy), which is a Haitian Creole word meaning, “to look after”. They are working on The Children’s Village, and have purchased 4 acres for this village. See the video at: http://okipe.org/.

Dear Haiti Team…Just a little follow up information on the Accident Victims from Sunday. The two most critical patients are now in the U.S.A.. Both had pelvic fractures and internal injuries. There were many others treated for concussions, one fractured femur, one fractured wrist. As far as I know all are doing well at this point. One noteable mention is that on the day the accident happened a Canadian medical team specializing in orthopedics was on the mainland in Port-au-Prince, having only arrived the day before. They saw and treated all of these patients. Thank you so much for all the prayers on their behalf.

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully” (Romans 12:4-8).
I love what Carl Chapman shared in church this morning about loving one another, serving one another in love, and honoring one another above yourselves. As we pray for a new pastor for LLWC, let’s remember that The Right Pastor is also praying for the right church for him! God has the right pastor in mind for us. He is preparing himself to come to LLWC, and we must prepare our hearts and church for him. So while we wait for God’s perfect timing, let’s serve one another in love and use the different gifts that God has given us. And of course, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Mothers of PreSchoolers (MOPS) will be meeting Wed. 2/8/12 at 9:00 a.m. Brunch will be served. Contact Joyce Bozak, Karen Seaman, or Gail Seaman for more info.
Valentine’s Day baskets – please bring goodies next Sunday (Feb 12) for baskets to encourage our LLCS Teachers.
LLWC is considering for it’s next study: Outlive your life : you were made to make a difference, by Max Lucado. This book encourages those with little financial power or stability to live the life God wanted and begin a revolution in which all members of humanity, including the poor and destitute, are accepted, loved, and helped by Christians.
“These are difficult days in our world’s history. 1.75 billion people are desperately poor, natural disasters are gouging entire nations, and economic uncertainty still reigns across the globe. But you and I have been given an opportunity to make a big difference. What if we did? What if we rocked the world with hope? Infiltrated all corners with God’s love and life? We are created by a great God to do great works. He invites us to outlive our lives, not just in heaven, but here on earth. Let’s live our lives in such a way that the world will be glad we did. One hundred percent of the author’s royalties from Outlive Your Life products will benefit children and families through World Vision and other ministries of faith-based compassion” (from the publisher).
Please contact Bunny Austin if you’re interested in studying this book. A date will be set when we have enough interest. Study materials will be provided.

The Long Lake Wesleyan Church, located in the Heart of the Adirondacks, is seeking a lead full-time pastor who will serve our small Adirondack congregation with supportive lay leaders. We are seeking a dedicated disciple of Christ, with a heart of fire for Jesus Christ who can bring that passion to the people who attend our church, as well as to those who do not yet have a relationship with Jesus. Our congregation has a variety of ages and backgrounds, but all come together to worship our God. Our church is looking for an energetic seeker of God’s vision on both a personal, congregational and community level. We believe and actively practice the Great Commission. If you’d like to explore how we can serve and exalt Jesus Christ together, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Greg Bozak.
We have added several new videos from our team’s trip to Haiti in November 2011. You will need QuickTime to view these videos. QuickTime is free; you can download QuickTime for Mac or PC here.
